One of the legacy projects executed by the prestigious JRB Solar Investment Limited is the installation of streetlights on Third Mainland Bridge Lagos, bringing out the night glory and beauty that characterized the megacity of Lagos.

Over the past few years, the bridge has been bedevilled by deep darkness, which has led to insecurity, thefts and all manners of unwholesome and criminal activities on the bridge. When JRB Solar Investment Limited was saddled with the responsibility and the tasks of the execution of the project, it was a huge relief for the commuters, as the company has a superlative reputation for the execution of standard projects with the best quality that is absolutely reliable.

The Third Mainland Bridge is significant and strategic to the daily local economy of Lagos, with its very high vehicular traffic on weekdays and quite less busy at weekends, as many residents commute to and from the Lagos Mainland to the Island, which is the commercial hub of Lagos State.

Residents in Ikeja, Agboyi-Ketu, Ikorodu, Isheri, Oworonshoki, Gbagada, Yaba, Maryland and Oshodi often use the bridge on their daily commutes. The Third Mainland Bridge is a necessary part of Lagos' daily commuting, and as such, requires to be constantly renovated and lit up with superb streetlights, like the kind JRB Solar installed.

The third Mainland bridge has also come to be a major Lagos iconic site, offering different views and sights of Lagos, like the Lagos Lagoon, the University of Lagos waterfront and Makoko, a satellite town built on the Lagos Lagoon. Since the installation of the incredibly bright streetlight, one can see from a beautiful distance the radiance of the city that does not sleep.

The Third Mainland Bridge covers an entire stretch of 9.6km distance and with the 5.4km ramps of the bridge. This makes the bridge to be one of the longest bridges in Africa, thus deserving of the best quality facility that will give an incredible image to the commercial hub of Nigeria.

The Tinubu led administration, having listened to the cries of the commuters, swung into action and the execution of the project commenced in February 2024, rehabilitating the bridge and installing CCTV and Solar Streetlights within the duration of two months, JRB Solar Investment Limited completed its execution and mounted 1,304 units of solar streetlights across the 9.6km

It is important to reemphasize here that the solar products used by JRB Solar are of European standards of high quality and are certified as premium products.  Best of its kind, JRB Solar is notable for its culture of excellence in project execution, the kind that will stand the test of time and give maximum satisfaction to the commuters.

In terms of maintenance, JRB Solar Investment Limited has put in place a team of engineers to ensure consistent maintenance. It is important to underscore that even a few weeks after the full installation of the solar streetlights, some vandals were sighted attempting to destroy some of the facility. Worthy of note is the fact that the Lagos state government has deployed a security mechanism to ensure that the facilities are not damaged.

According to the JRB Solar site engineers, they attested to the fact that the solar streetlights have a years warranty. This is to make you understand the reliability and durability of the solar products. The solar panel used has a lifespan of 25 years, thus giving a full assurance of the continued bright light that will keep illuminating the iconic Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

The excellent execution of the project is a testament that an Indigenous company like JRB Solar Investment Limited has the capacity and the competence to deliver such a legacy project as the electrification of the Third Mainland Bridge with superb solar streetlights. So, the federal government can continue to use indigenous companies like JRB Solar that will keep delivering standard jobs for the growth of the economy.

For the past several months that the project has been completed and operationalized, a lot of daily commuters, have been singing praises of the excellent job done, especially the shining solar streetlights. One of the commuters, Mr Adebayo Dele, said “I can tell you that driving on the third mainland bridge in night is so sweet now because everywhere is bright. Before I used to be afraid of being attacked on the bridge because of the darkness, but now, everywhere is bright like daytime, and even if is midnight, you can joyfully drive through the third mainland bridge.”

During the grand opening by the federal government in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, the Minister of Works, Mr Dave Umahi, thanked the contractors for the excellent job done and expressed gratitude to JRB Solar Investment Limited for completing the work before the scheduled deadline of completion date.

The Managing Director of JRB Solar Investment Limited, Dr Jimoh Rauf Badamosi thanked the federal government for the opportunity given to the company to execute the contract. He promised that the company will continue to display a high standard of job delivery, anytime such opportunity is given, in order to revitalize and revamp Nigeria’s decaying infrastructure with state-of-the-art facilities.
