The factory will be engaged in the local assembling of solar panels and solar streetlights. It is projected that about 800KW of solar panels will be assembled per day.

As the federal government continues to recommit itself to achieving the sustainable energy target of 2030, more than 85 million Nigerians are wallowing in deep darkness according to a survey presented by the World Resource Institute, WRI. According to the survey, it makes Nigeria ranks negatively on top of the radar of countries without electricity provision.

THE VISION OF THE SOLAR FACTORY

This vision of JRB Solar Investment Limited was birthed to bridge the gap between the high energy demand and the low energy supply in Nigeria and the West African sub-region. We believe in the power of collaborative actions to achieve the global goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. 

On April 1, 2024, The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) announced an ambitious goal of new regulation demanding all electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to acquire at least 10% of their contracted energy from embedded generation sources, with 50% from renewable sources, by April 1, 2025.

LIGHTING UP RURAL COMMUNITIES

One of the many goals of this project is to help illuminate rural communities that have never had access to electricity before now. It is estimated by Vanguard News Nigeria that over 90 million Nigerians do not have access to electricity. One of the legacy projects of JRB Solar is the electrification of a small agrarian community in Kwalita in Gwagwalanda Area Council of FCT in 2022. The community has never witnessed electricity in over 100 years of its existence. This was a turning point for the community, as the local economy started booming and blossoming as life started flourishing in the bright light of the small city. 

This is exactly what JRB Solar Investment Limited wants to replicate in the many rural communities in Nigeria that have been in deep darkness. It is estimated that products from this factory can build at least ten mini-grids of 1MW capacity within a space of a few months. 

It is important to underscore here that this will be a positive drive to bring change to several underserved communities across Nigeria and West African markets.
